Here Love triumphed.
The bride, from Padua, lost the use of her legs after a terrible motorcycle accident. The groom, from the States, was a victim of hurricane Katrina, which destroyed his home and life.
They met in San Francisco, where they were both trying to start a-new and mend their respective deep scars; Irene on her wheelchair, Jeffrey still distressed after the natural catastrophe that hit him. They met, liked each other, courted and fell madly in love.
When Irene and Jeff decided to get married they picked the Reschigliano church, in Padua, a building that means a lot to the bride. Guest of honour is Giovanni Pittoni, the doctor that nine year before in the aftermath of Irene’s tragic accident, assisted her difficult recovery.
In his words: “It’s a wonderful story, of strong, brave, beautiful people.”
At the church Irene prepared a wonderful surprise for Jeff: she really did walk down the aisle, thanks to the help of a medical exoskeleton.
