On a mild May morning, as the first scents of flowers spread through the gardens of San Pelagio Castle, Mariam was getting ready in the enchanting Sala del Camino. The soft light streaming through the windows caressed her face, creating an intimate and serene atmosphere. Beside her, the maid of honor gently adjusted her makeup, while they shared smiles and whispered confidences.
Not far away, in the adjoining room, Paolo was preparing in quiet intimacy, accompanied by his parents a tender, timeless family moment before the most awaited encounter of the day.
The symbolic ceremony at San Pelagio Castle
On the Oltrelimite peninsula, the wisteria-covered colonnade looked like a corridor suspended in time. The air was filled with the fragrance of English roses and the fresh notes of sage, gaura, and St. John’s wort, offering a natural setting that only San Pelagio Castle can provide. The ceremony unfolded in front of the famous Wind Rose mosaic, where Paolo awaited Mariam with eyes full of emotion. During the exchange of vows, tears gently flowed tears of joy, sincere and profound. As petals were tossed to mark the end of the ceremony, the air filled with celebration and cheer.
Guests then moved to the avenue of century-old hornbeams, where the aperitif had been set up on the lawn. Chef You Want welcomed everyone with refined food stations and glasses of sparkling wine, while the May sun accompanied conversations and laughter. Toward the end of the cocktail hour, Mariam and Paolo stole away for half an hour, a quiet moment just for them sharing glances, laughter, and a walk through the gardens. The castle of San Pelagio, with its lush greenery and ancient stone walls, framed every photograph, each image telling the story of their love.
Back with their guests, the couple opened the large iron gate leading to the heart of the castle. Soon after, from the medieval tower, the bride tossed her bouquet to applause and laughter. Dinner was served in the charming Sala delle Travi, where the couple was greeted with cheers and the joyful waving of napkins. The setting reflected the noble essence of the castle, blending historic charm with a warm, family-like atmosphere.
In the historic Balloon Hall ,once a grand 19th-century ballroom, the cake cutting took place. Together, the bride and groom prepared their millefeuille, layering crisp pastry with cream, fresh raspberries, and chocolate shavings, surrounded by smiles and applause. Finally, as evening embraced the castle, the newlyweds opened the dance floor with their first dance. A melody filled the heart of the room, giving way to a night of joy, laughter, and celebration from the sacred moment of their vows to the joyful continuation of their wedding day.
“At San Pelagio, in their eyes I witnessed the strength of a true and authentic love.” Alessandro
